This drill teaches runners to look for the ball and react.
Equipment: Homeplate, 1st Base.
Procedure:
Players line up at homeplate.
Coach stands at the third base position.
Each player takes a swing in the batter's box and begins to run toward first base.
He must look towards the coach in his first 3 to 4 steps.
If the coach has his arms raised in the air, the runner should take a turn.
If the coach has his arms pointed to the ground, the runner run through the base.
It is important to make practices fun, especially for the younger players. |
